# Board of Estimate & Taxation 10-05-2026

The City of Norwalk Board of Estimate & Taxation’s regular meeting on October 5, 2026, included approval of a $184,500 Board of Education rollover: $22,700 for previously encumbered purchase orders for goods and services not yet delivered, $80,000 for employee retirement payouts earned in the prior fiscal year, and $81,800 for the Board’s non-lapsing fund. The Board also heard that the city’s $500,000 contingency had no requests during the first quarter. The mayor and finance staff described a planned review of vacant positions to identify efficiencies and support the budget’s approximately $3.7 million lapse target; the mayor said a retirement-incentive package would not be part of the upcoming budget because the prior program produced insignificant savings.

Oak Hills Park Authority reported approximately $1.1 million in cash, repayment of $33,000 to the city for the first two months of the fiscal year, and revenue and expenses each slightly below budget. It reported renewing grounds superintendent Jim Shell’s contract for five years and discussed a capital plan that includes about $17,000 for Stonehouse improvements, along with potential cart-path, water-use, and equipment work. Golf-rate proposals are expected to be discussed in November, with no rate decision taken at this meeting.
