# 10/05/2026 Riley County Commission Meeting

The Riley County Commission’s October 5, 2026 meeting included several spending and property matters. Commissioners approved Change Order No. 2 for the University Park Wastewater Lagoon after staff explained that the wrong type of pipe had been delivered and installed; the revised approach was described as having no additional charge and no effect on grant funding. The board also discussed selling county-owned Tatarax Lot 70, appraised at $26,100, but did not authorize a sale because unanimous direction was lacking. A Makers Guild, Inc. reservation of the plaza for October 10–11 was approved. Commissioners approved version 9 of the marketing brochure for recruiting a county administrator; a recruitment timeline is to be presented later.

A presentation on Fort Riley’s Safe Passage rideshare program reported that the county had issued an RFP and contracted with Lyft to provide rides intended to reduce impaired driving. The program reported 255 rides over the latest weekend, about $6,000 in costs, and a $250,000 budget for fiscal year 2027. The commission also agreed to pause further alcohol-use exemptions for events at Seco Park while staff develop approval criteria and review fees, a decision that may affect future event organizers. No other contract awards or bid approvals were identified.
