# MCBOE Budget Hearing | 9-10-2026

Montgomery Public Schools’ annual FY2027 budget hearing was held September 10, 2026. The chief school financial officer presented projected revenues of about $428.9 million across funds and a general-fund budget of approximately $315 million in revenues and $317.7 million in expenditures. The district expects to end FY2027 with about $88 million in general-fund balance, or 3.3 months of reserves. Key pressures include rising employee health-benefit costs, declining enrollment, limited revenue growth, and reduced state Advancement and Technology funding, projected at $19.8 million—about $9 million below the prior year.

Capital and debt plans include bond proceeds for construction of Percy Julian High School, approximately $12 million in FY2027 debt service associated with Percy Julian, and $53.5 million in capital-project revenues, including about $29.1 million in state funds and $24.4 million in local funds. The district also reported completing a district-wide capital-asset inventory. No contract awards, vendor selections, or purchasing approvals were presented. The board discussed whether to establish a minimum reserve level by policy, but no policy action was taken; the only recorded motion was approval of the hearing agenda.
