# Water Resources Board – September 22, 2026 (audio only)

The Murfreesboro Water Resources Board meeting on September 22, 2026, approved several sewer and utility engineering actions. It approved an LJA task order, not to exceed $503,360, to design the next sewer rehabilitation project, including sewer-main lining and repairs; developer-funded portions were not expected to come from the department. The Board also approved an LJA preliminary engineering report for alternatives to replace or reroute sewer mains near I-24, for approximately $58,787, and Barge Design’s engineering proposal, not to exceed $61,500, for utility coordination related to the T. Mill Road/I-24 interchange improvements. For Thompson Lane construction support, it approved an ELI task order not to exceed $152,270. The Board also approved establishing the Butler Drive Center Sewer Assessment District; the reported project cost was $470,158, with a recommended assessment of $4,100 under the stated financing assumptions.

Staff reported that the Thompson Lane project had been awarded to Civil Constructors and described it as a $123 million project; the water and sewer bid was $21 million, above expectations. The update cited a $3.5 million TDOT contribution, a prior $12 million deposit, and $478,000 in interest earned, with no request yet for additional funding. Staff also reported that City Council had approved an amended contract expected to provide an additional $4.9 million in grant revenue, which would be deposited into capital reserves. The Board discussed pursuing reimbursement for utility relocation costs with TDOT. A resident’s complaint about water damage and requested reimbursement was heard after adjournment; no procurement action was identified for that matter.
