# FBI Seeks License Plate Reader Systems

The FBI issued an RFP in May 2026 for automatic license plate reader (ALPR) systems that can search vehicle data by plate or vehicle description, date, time, and geolocation, potentially drawing on broad camera networks and near-real-time data. Flock and Motorola Solutions are identified as possible suppliers. Representatives Shontel Brown and Greg Casar are seeking information about the acquisition, with a response requested by October 16, 2026. That date is the congressional information-request deadline, not a stated vendor proposal deadline; the signals report no contract value, solicitation number, or award.

- The FBI procurement is relevant to ALPR and surveillance technology suppliers, including firms able to provide the search and data-access capabilities described in the RFP.
- Companies involved or pursuing related work can review how their systems handle vehicle-description, date/time, and geolocation searches, as those capabilities are central to the reported requirement.
- Congressional scrutiny may affect the acquisition’s privacy and data-access considerations. The requested response is due **October 16, 2026 (13 days from October 3)**; no contractor submission deadline is provided.
