# Pennsylvania Awards $448M Broadband Grants

Pennsylvania has awarded more than $448 million in the first round of federal BEAD funding for broadband projects across 50 counties, following NTIA approval of more than $711 million for the state. The awards support fiber and fixed-wireless deployment and related planning, engineering, construction, staffing, and network upgrades. These are finalized awards, not open solicitations. For a separate $56.34 million group of awards to Frontier and IBT Group USA, planning and permitting are expected to begin in fall 2026, construction is scheduled for 2027, and service is targeted by 2030. Award recipients must provide at least a 25% match of total project costs. PBDA expects to award remaining program funds before the end of 2026, about 86 days from October 6.

- Broadband providers and contractors can use the published award list to identify recipient projects and pursue supported subcontracting, equipment, engineering, permitting, and deployment work; the signals do not identify an open solicitation or procurement contact.
- Awardees must account for the 25% project-cost match, an important consideration for financing and delivery planning.
- Companies interested in future Pennsylvania BEAD work can review the awarded projects and PBDA updates as the state plans to allocate remaining funds before year-end.
