# Community Leaders United Against Domestic Violence

The City of Shreveport held a community event on October 2, 2026, launching and discussing a coordinated response to domestic violence. City, Caddo Parish, law enforcement, school, prosecutor, nonprofit, survivor, and national advocacy representatives described the need to connect services and reduce gaps that can leave survivors without support. The work follows a three-phase, 12-month process: a landscape assessment based on interviews and community listening sessions, development of a strategic action plan, and implementation. The Louisiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence and national partners committed technical assistance, planning support, training resources, and guidance; speakers said this assistance was offered without charge. No contract award, solicitation, purchasing decision, or other procurement activity was identified.

Officials and participants emphasized survivor safety, improved coordination, prevention, and stronger pathways to services. The Shreveport Police Department reported more than 325 domestic-violence arrests in 2026 to date, compared with 284 at the same point in 2025, and described increased reporting and cooperation. Speakers also cited existing efforts such as a domestic-violence unit in the District Attorney’s Office and advocacy to help survivors navigate protective orders. The next steps are continued steering-committee and community input and development of the coordinated response plan; no spending vote or procurement-related motion was reported.
