# CRA - Public Forum - BCC Regular Meeting - October 1, 2026

The Escambia County Redevelopment Agency (CRA) and Board of County Commissioners (BCC) met on October 1, 2026. The CRA approved its September 10 minutes and a four-item budget-and-finance consent agenda, including residential rehabilitation grant funding and lien-agreement amendments and lien cancellations; both votes passed 3–0, with two commissioners off the dais. At the BCC meeting, the board approved consent-agenda items, including a purchase order of nearly $3 million for temporary staffing. Speakers objected to the staffing arrangement and raised concerns about reduced transit coverage; commissioners discussed purchasing additional vehicles and working with the transportation coordinator to address service gaps, but no vehicle purchase was approved during the meeting. No new contract award or RFP selection was identified.

The board voted 5–0 to send one rezoning case back to the Planning Board for further review and voted 5–0 to schedule public hearings on the OLF-8 development items, subject to the Planning Board process. Commissioners discussed public concerns about data-center restrictions and asked the county attorney to review approaches used by other local governments; no new data-center ordinance or moratorium was adopted. The meeting also included reports of a $10 million-plus community-center project in Century, a substantial healthcare funding award for the area, and public comments about water quality, transit access, library governance, and infrastructure. The board voted 5–0 to open applications for two Library Board of Governance vacancies and bring applicants forward at the November 5 meeting.
