# Board of Health - 09/30/2026

The Town of Bridgewater Board of Health met on September 30, 2026. The board received an update that the Health Agent position was still being recruited for and that the Halifax Public Health Excellence Group was covering inspections, septic work, and plan reviews in the interim. The department reported that services were continuing without major disruption, though reviews and inspection requests could take longer. The board unanimously voted to continue appointing the Massachusetts Health Officers Association as the town’s tobacco inspection agent; the town retains enforcement responsibility. The board also approved using the Public Health Excellence Group’s auxiliary nurse, Kathy Evans, as backup for communicable-disease reporting through the state’s MAVEN system and for additional public-health nursing capacity as needed. The chair was asked to email the state to request her MAVEN access.

The update also noted that the Halifax/West Bridgewater regional group had released a couple thousand dollars to Bridgewater for unforeseen, time-sensitive public-health needs; no new spending vote or specific procurement was taken at this meeting. The department’s existing contracted nurse works about 10 hours per week under a July-to-June arrangement, but no contract value or new contract award was discussed. The next meeting was scheduled for October 28, 2026.
