# 2026 October 1st Regular School Board Meeting

The October 1, 2026 regular meeting of the Clay County District Schools Board included recognition of student and school achievements, a school showcase, public comment, and board business. The board voted 5–0 to approve the superintendent’s recommendation not to approve the Academy of Career and Technical Innovations charter school application. A motion to deny that recommendation and postpone the matter to a later meeting failed 2–3. The board also adopted the consent agenda 5–0 and proclaimed Red Ribbon Week. No contract awards, bids, vendor selections, or purchasing decisions were identified.

Public speakers urged renewal of the existing one-mill referendum, which will appear on the November ballot and, they said, supports employee compensation and school safety, including law-enforcement contracts. Other speakers raised concerns about the roughly $90 cost of Level 2 volunteer background checks and asked about waivers or assistance; no board action on those requests was recorded. A parent also criticized bus delays and tracking communication, and a student spoke about school libraries. These were public comments rather than procurement actions.
