# Booz Allen and a16z Accelerate Defense Innovation

Booz Allen and Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) are combining a **$400 million investment partnership** with engineering and federal-market integration support to help hard-tech startups bring capabilities to national missions. Booz Allen says its support is intended to help companies navigate FedRAMP, security-clearance, interoperability, and sustainment requirements. The article describes a broader federal interest in commercial innovation and faster acquisition pathways, but identifies no open solicitation, contract award, or procurement contact.

- Startups seeking federal defense work should account for the identified market-entry challenges—FedRAMP, security clearances, interoperability, and sustainment—as they develop and position their technologies.
- Procurement teams and industry stakeholders can view the partnership as an example of private capital and mission-integration support aimed at moving commercial hard tech toward operational use; it is not itself a stated government procurement opportunity.
- Shield AI is identified in connection with the Booz Allen collaboration, including autonomy technology; the article does not specify a contract, solicitation, or award involving the company.
