# Commercial Property Workshop for Lahaina Businesses No. 3

The County of Maui’s Commercial Property Workshop for Lahaina Businesses No. 3 was held on October 2, 2026. County staff and the State Historic Preservation Division (SHPD) reviewed commercial rebuilding permits, historic-district requirements, and ways to reduce delays. Staff reported four projects in planning pre-consultation, four in planning review, six planning permits issued, and four in the building-permit process. Process changes include an expedited Special Management Area pathway for qualifying like-for-like rebuilds, waived right-of-way improvement fees under Bill 10, communal-parking provisions, and administrative review for projects meeting historic design guidelines. A draft County–SHPD agreement is intended to streamline archaeological reviews and reduce duplicated investigations and associated time and costs; it had not yet been signed.
