# ESASD Education Committee Meeting (Oct 1)

The ESASD School Board Education Committee met on October 1, 2026. Members approved the agenda and the September 3 meeting minutes. The committee received updates on the district’s comprehensive-plan priorities, including social-emotional learning and mathematics instruction; development of a Portrait of an Art Student; literacy activities; classroom walkthrough practices; and teacher professional learning. Discussion also covered possible middle- and high-school schedule changes, including how a six-period schedule could affect course alignment, instructional time, and electives. Staff said these issues remain under review; no schedule change was approved at this meeting.

The committee reviewed the first portion of the high school Program of Studies, focusing on course-selection dates and coordination for students needing special education, English-learner, or other support during scheduling. Staff said the full document is planned for the December meeting and that any future schedule or graduation-requirement changes would be addressed separately. No contracts, bids, vendor selections, spending allocations, or other procurement activity were identified, and no advisory recommendations were presented for the full board.
