# Select Board - 9/29/26

The Tewksbury Select Board meeting on September 29, 2026, approved National Grid’s petition to add a utility pole at 94 North Street, subject to DPW recommendations. The Board also approved Strong Water Farm’s one-day beer license unanimously and approved Treehouse Brewing’s request to open at 10 a.m. on Sundays, changing the opening time from noon, by a 4–1 vote. The Board established a Surveillance Technology Advisory Subcommittee by a 5–0 vote to develop recommendations on oversight, privacy, civil liberties, transparency, and public safety. The Police Chief reported that the department had stopped using its license plate readers and would not bring them back with another vendor. A separate motion seeking a surveillance-technology definition, advance Board notice before procurement, and an inventory of existing systems failed for lack of a second.

The Board recommended the proposed FY2027 non-union wage plan and related warrant article for town meeting. The HRS study compared 77 positions across 16 Massachusetts communities and proposed $125,000 in funding from receipts, with an estimated ongoing budget impact of about $42,000 annually; one member abstained on the wage-plan recommendation. The town manager said a separate study of union positions was underway to support contract negotiations beginning in January. The Board also approved a town counsel invoice of $3,952.50. Board-member reports noted upcoming town-meeting articles for rehabilitation of the town bandstand and lighting at the high school athletic field; these were not voted on by the Select Board at this meeting.
