# Tuesday, September 29 - Special Board Meeting

The Chicago Board of Education held a special meeting on September 29, 2026. The board received a communication establishing the 2026–2027 schedule for the Special Education Advisory Committee and Black Student Achievement Committee; the item required no vote. A representative of the principals’ and assistant principals’ union urged the district to resume bargaining on its first collective bargaining agreement and requested standing seats for the union on committees focused on budget, finance, Black student success, and special education. A public speaker raised concerns about a student in temporary living situations not receiving fee waivers, uniforms, backpacks, or transportation support.

The board voted 12–0 to enter closed session and later reported that there were no items to vote on from that session. The meeting then adjourned. No contract awards, vendor selections, spending approvals, or other procurement activity were identified.
