# Select Board - 09/28/26

At its September 28, 2026 meeting, the Westwood Select Board approved a $39,981,157 project scope and budget for the FS1 public-safety facility project. The presentation described a redesigned project with reduced square footage, site and field improvements, and stormwater controls; project costs were reconciled by independent estimators. The board’s unanimous vote approved the total project budget, but the proposed financing plan remains subject to future town meeting and ballot votes. Administrators recommended using about $5.1 million from available town funds to reduce the anticipated debt exclusion to about $34.8 million; town meeting and voters are expected to consider the financing in October and November. Residents also urged preserving funds for FS1, and the board discussed the project’s cost, schedule, and public review process.

The board unanimously approved a Constellation Energy electricity-supply contract for up to five years, subject to final contract review and confirmation that pricing remains advantageous to the town. It also unanimously voted to suspend use of Westwood’s Flock automated license-plate-reader cameras pending further public discussion and a report on alternatives; the chief and town administrator were asked to review the agreement and report back, with a follow-up planned for November 18. Other actions included approving the FY2027–29 collective bargaining agreement with the Westwood Police Association, with one abstention, and adopting a code-of-conduct policy for appointed and elected officials.
