# Northshore School District Study Session September 28, 2026

The Northshore School District Board held a study session on September 28, 2026, continuing its discussion of enrollment changes and their effects on schools. Staff presented districtwide and Shelton View survey results: respondents emphasized access to high-quality programs and services, reasonable travel times, stable boundaries, keeping school communities and feeder cohorts together, and clear, timely communication. Staff also outlined a phased engagement process, with a tentative March 8 date for board approval of recommendations.

The board discussed elementary enrollment projections, school capacity and building use, and potential short- and long-term options, including boundary adjustments, program placement, construction, and consolidation, repurposing, or closure of schools. In developing guiding principles, members raised responsible use of public funds, equitable access to programs and services, effective use of building capacity, travel time, and limiting future boundary changes. The group indicated support for carrying forward four existing budget-development principles, but no procurement action, contract award, or spending vote was identified.
