# North Kingstown School Redistricting Meeting: September 28th, 2026

The North Kingstown School District Start Times and Transportation Advisory Committee met on September 28, 2026, to review consultant Fred Hazi’s redistricting analysis. Hazi described how student-address data and parcels were grouped into 85 planning units, and presented enrollment projections through 2034 and school-capacity estimates. The discussion covered differences between the consultant’s enrollment snapshot and current district counts, planned housing developments, grade-level capacity, and keeping district special-education programs and elementary-to-middle-school pathways in consideration. The consultant will develop a proposed scenario that the committee can review and revise before it is shared for public comment. Members also discussed collecting baseline bus-cost and ride-time information for evaluating transportation options.

The committee reviewed proposed community and student survey questions about school start times, transportation, and before- or after-school care; members may submit edits before the survey is finalized. Public commenters raised questions about survey design, transparency and timing of community engagement, redistricting targets, and a neighborhood bus-stop location. A motion to move public comment to the end of the agenda passed. The next meeting was set for October 13. No procurement activity, contract award, purchasing decision, or spending action was identified.
