# Regular City Council Meeting 5/5/26

At the May 5, 2026, Lemon Grove City Council regular meeting, the council unanimously approved an appropriation of $141,362 from the Roadway Lighting District general fund balance and an agreement with FRO Lighting America, Inc. for a 13-light solar street-light pilot on Main Street. The lights are intended to improve deficient lighting, and the project will use the competitively solicited Sourcewell cooperative purchasing process. Council discussion covered the design, maintenance, dark-sky features, and potential use of the selected lighting standard in future downtown improvements.

Council also considered an award to Western Audio Visual and Security under Agreement No. 2026-01A for council chamber and community center audiovisual and technology upgrades, not to exceed $240,450.79. The city had received eight proposals and interviewed three firms; the recommended vendor received the highest evaluation score. The project includes broadcast, display, audio, captioning, and control systems and is expected to take four to six weeks after equipment delivery. A motion to award was made, but the transcript cuts off before the vote result. In its FY 2026–27 strategic-goals discussion, staff proposed goals that could involve an economic-development consultant, private vendors for recreation programs, and grant-funded Broadway redesign; no final direction on those goals is captured.
