# Human Relations Commission Meeting - September 29, 2026

The City of Palo Alto Human Relations Commission met on September 29, 2026. Its main business item was whether to recommend that the City Council endorse California Proposition 1, the Veterans and Affordable Housing Bond Act of 2026. Commissioners discussed the proposed $11.25 billion bond, including $5.1 billion for multifamily rental housing construction and rehabilitation and $2.1 billion for affordable-housing acquisition, rehabilitation, preservation, and supportive housing. They noted that the funding would be available statewide rather than earmarked for Palo Alto, but could support affordable and senior housing, including projects such as housing on the city parking lot behind AAnita’s on Ramona Street.

The Commission unanimously approved a motion, made by the Chair and seconded by Commissioner Bar, to recommend that the City Council take an endorsement position on Proposition 1; staff will share the recommendation with the Council. No contract awards, purchases, or other procurement actions were identified. The Commission deferred approval of its minutes to a regular meeting. A commissioner also reported on a public-safety workshop about scams and fraud, attended by about 60 people.
