# City of St. Marys Council Meeting 09-28-2026

At its September 28, 2026 meeting, the St. Marys City Council unanimously passed emergency Ordinance 2026-18 authorizing the purchase of a replacement city fleet fueling system from Advanced Fuel Systems. The existing system, about 30 years old, had begun leaking; officials cited the need to replace it promptly, a 14-week tank lead time, and the vendor’s track record. Council suspended the rules and passed the ordinance. The purchase was not included in the budget, so funds will be appropriated across the general fund and four utility funds. Council also received an update on street work: resurfacing was expected to begin that week, Ohio Street reconstruction remained underway, and the McKinley Road project was delayed. A resolution to apply for an Ohio Department of Transportation Transportation Alternatives Program grant for Spring Street Reconstruction, Phase 5, remained at second reading for the next meeting.

Other business included a request to rezone approximately 3.237 acres at 315 Freewall Way from general commercial to light manufacturing, with further review expected through the planning process. Officials reported that S&P Global downgraded the city’s general-obligation rating from A+ to A, while it remains investment grade, and said the city is reviewing its fund balances and reserve-policy needs. Council also passed measures accepting tax rates and incorporating ordinances into the city code.
