SUNY is seeking a contractor to install low-voltage cabling infrastructure at its Global Center in New York City.
- **Government buyer:** State University of New York (SUNY), through SUNY System Administration and the Office of University-wide Procurement and Contracting; coordination is also required with SUNY Facilities Management. The project is at the SUNY Global Center, 116 East 55th Street, New York City.
- **Scope:** Install 78 home-run cable runs: 44 shielded Category 6 camera/PoE runs and 34 low-voltage control runs. The cabling supports future security, access control, video surveillance, elevator access control, and emergency notification systems.
- **Cable and pathway materials:** Requirements include blue, shielded Category 6 CMP plenum-rated permanent cable; shielded RJ-45 keystone outlets and IDF patch panels; orange-jacketed shielded Category 6 patch cords where required; approximately 100 linear feet of EMT; and 500 linear feet of 2-1/2-inch orange flexible conduit. Commercial-grade Wiremold raceway and sleeves, firestop, sealing, and restoration materials are also required. **Belden** 9842 two-pair, 24 AWG RS-485 cable is specified for two elevator-interface runs; no manufacturer part numbers are provided.
- **Control-cabling breakdown:** 3 door-contact runs and 3 request-to-exit runs using 22/4 shielded cable; 14 emergency/lockdown or exit-release runs and 3 electric-strike/locking-hardware runs using 18/4 shielded cable; 1 card-reader run and 4 elevator-interface runs using 22/6 shielded cable; 2 elevator-interface runs using Belden 9842 RS-485 cable; 2 additional elevator-interface runs using 18/4 shielded cable; and 2 alarm expansion-board runs using 22/6 shielded cable.
- **Installation and closeout:** Provide cable supports, routing, sleeves and penetrations, firestopping, weatherproofing, labeling at both ends, cable mapping, testing, certification reports, and as-built documentation. Provide at least 10-foot service loops at device and control-panel locations. Repair affected finishes and replace ceiling tiles damaged by the work.
- **Important limits and site requirements:** Furnishing or installing cameras, readers, strikes, and other devices; equipment terminations; programming; configuration; commissioning; and system integration are excluded. Protect the Global Center’s historic architectural finishes and coordinate designated penetrations with SUNY. Work is subject to New York State prevailing-wage requirements and is scheduled for normal weekday hours unless otherwise authorized.
- **OEM and named product:** **Belden** is the named cable manufacturer. **Wiremold** is the named raceway product brand. No other cable OEMs, vendors, or manufacturer part numbers are identified in the supplied materials.
