The National Research Council of Canada is seeking an AS-3 airborne ISR sensor pod and related engineering for defence-funded flight research.
- **Government buyer:** National Research Council of Canada (NRC), Flight Research Laboratory (FRL); the work supports research funded by the Department of National Defence (DND).
- **OEM and supplier:** **AirDyne R&D Inc.** is identified as the AS-3 pod’s manufacturer and intellectual-property holder. The pod must be identical to the baseline AS-3 pods used by the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF).
- **Product:** One mission-tailorable AS-3 Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) sensor pod; no quantity beyond the as-needed requirement is specified. Part number: AS-3.
- **Related materials and components:** Raw materials and potential pod structure, brackets or mounts, wiring, and fairings or radomes for sensor installations; quantities and part numbers are not specified.
- **Services:** Pod design, engineering and manufacture; assistance with operational clearance for NRC aircraft; initial sensor integration; and potential future engineering, technical support, and pod or component modifications to accommodate additional sensors.
- **Notable requirement:** Suppliers must hold the AS-3 design and engineering data rights and be able to provide a pod matching the RCAF baseline.

### Description

The National Research Council of Canada’s Flight Research Laboratory requires a Mission-Tailorable ISR sensor pod to support DND-funded research, using an AS-3 pod consistent with those employed by the Royal Canadian Air Force. The proposed five-year standing offer covers raw materials, design, engineering and manufacture of a baseline pod, support for clearing it for NRC aircraft, and integration of initial sensors. Further work may include engineering, technical support, and manufacture or modification of pod structures and related components for future sensors. The ACAN states that suppliers must hold the AS-3 design and engineering data rights and be able to provide a pod identical to the RCAF’s base AS-3 pods.
