The Department of the Navy’s Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division, awarded a five-year, $25 million agreement to support PMA-262’s MQ-4C Triton communications systems.
- **Government buyer:** Department of the Navy; Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division. The effort supports PMA-262’s Persistent Maritime Unmanned Aircraft Systems program.
- **OEM:** **L3 Communication Systems-West** is identified as the only capable source for the required systems and support.
- **Hardware requested:** 2 Narrow Band Assemblies (P/N 6007502503); 2 WBS X/Ka Band Antenna Assemblies, 45-inch (P/N 6007502002); 2 SATCOM Modem Assemblies (P/N 60075010-003); 2 Airborne Modem Assemblies (P/N 6003919411); 6 High Gain Antennas (P/N 60039189-002); and 6 Radio Frequency Electronics assemblies (P/N 1000178189). The scope also covers weapon-replaceable assemblies, shop-replaceable assemblies, and subassemblies.
- **Services requested:** 20 repairs and 4 Test Requirement Documents/Fault Detection Fault Isolation (TRDs/FDFI) items, with part numbers listed as various; additional engineering, logistics, upgrades, integration, installation, testing, spares, and sustainment support.
- **Notable requirements:** Services may include training, redesign and modification, engineering investigations, provisioning data, logistics product data, software patches, and fielded-system engineering support. The scope includes a passive-aperture retrofit tied to the MQ-4C Triton program’s operational capability milestone.
- **Sole-source rationale:** The justification states that another-source approach would cause significant cost duplication and program delays; developing an alternative is estimated to cost more than $12 million and take at least five years.

### Description

Procurement of WRAs, SRAs, and associated subassemblies, Engineering and Logistics Services, incorporation of developmental upgrades and software patches, integration, installation, testing, fielded systems engineering support services, repairs, spares, and sustainment of UA COMMS systems. If the requirements are not procured from L3 Communication Systems-West, there will be signficant duplication of cost and untimley delays to the program.
