The FAA is gathering industry input on solutions to detect and analyze radio-frequency interference affecting aviation systems across the National Airspace System.
- **Government buyer:** U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Spectrum Engineering Services Group, Spectrum Planning and International Team (AJW-192).
- **Request:** Industry information on solutions to continuously monitor aviation radio-frequency activity and detect, identify, characterize, geolocate where feasible, and report interference, jamming, spoofing, and other anomalous conditions.
- **Desired capabilities:** Signal and waveform analysis, emitter identification, trend analysis, multi-sensor correlation, searchable historical data, visualization, data export, and post-event analysis.
- **Coverage and deployment:** Scalable distributed sensors with centralized analysis across airport surface, terminal, enroute, domestic and oceanic environments, including ground and airborne settings; monitor aviation frequencies in use across the NAS and CONUS/OCONUS areas.
- **Industry information sought:** Solution maturity, vendor roles, acquisition approaches, and options for purchasing services. This is industry engagement; no specific quantities, part numbers, contract value, or contract performance term are provided.
- **Named organizations:** The MITRE Corporation is identified as the industry event location. No product OEMs are identified.

### Description

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) denied the Federation of Professional Truckers’ application for an exemption from electronic logging device (ELD) requirements. The application sought to let professional drivers record their records of duty status manually instead of using an ELD. After reviewing the application and public comments, FMCSA determined the requested exemption would not provide a safety level equivalent to or greater than the level achieved without the exemption. The notice states that the application did not establish how its proposed safety measures would apply to the broader population of drivers covered by the request.
