### Description

The U.S. Department of the Army, Redstone Arsenal, intends to carry out the disposition of human remains removed from Federal lands under the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). Human remains representing at least one individual were identified in 2025 during post-fieldwork processing of a subsistence sample from site 1MA639 in Madison County, Alabama. The Cherokee Nation, Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, The Chickasaw Nation, and The Muscogee (Creek) Nation have priority for disposition. Written claims may be submitted to the Army; disposition may occur on or after October 30, 2026, and unclaimed remains will be declared unclaimed if no claim is received by September 30, 2027.
