Douglas Schools (DUSD #27) held its regular board meeting on October 6, 2026. The board discussed water-damage repairs and bleacher replacement at Paul Huber Middle School and possible bleacher projects at Douglas High School. Staff reported that roof, wall, and door leak points had been sealed and were being checked. Huber’s bleachers were identified as the priority; the board approved proceeding with that project while deferring the high-school gym and football-field bleachers for future consideration. Estimates discussed included about $123,000 for Huber bleachers, $268,000 for high-school gym bleachers, and $1.7 million for football-field bleachers; the combined scope was described as roughly $2.1 million. The larger projects may require financing, while Huber’s project was expected to use available funds. No vendor award was identified. The board also approved the revised FY2027 capital plan and preventive-maintenance plan for submission to the Arizona School Facilities Oversight Board, and approved the FY2026 annual financial report and school-level reporting form. The capital fund was reported to have 53.3% unencumbered and available.

The board approved certified contract renewals, classified staff rehires, and administrator contracts for FY2026–27, with amounts presented to address an audit recommendation; reported adjustments included a 50-cent classified raise and a 2% increase for administrators. Other personnel actions, including hires and addenda, were also approved. The board accepted donations including $545,472 in student supplies and resources from Bella Futures, construction-class materials, and labor and materials from KWR Construction for roof decking at Clawson Elementary. These were donations rather than purchases. Votes on the noted action items passed unanimously among the three members present.
