The October 7, 2026 Waukesha School District Teaching & Learning Committee meeting reviewed the K–12 art program, instructional technology, and the Teaching & Learning budget. The committee approved the September 1 minutes, with a correction changing “Achieve” to “eAchieve,” by a 5–0 vote. The art presentation covered course pathways, student showcases, and equipment and supply planning. Staff described annual art costs including kiln repairs and clay mixers, and explained that schools receive per-student consumables funding alongside a building-level minimum allocation. They also noted that the district reviews vendors for supply quality and cost; no vendor selection, contract award, or purchasing vote was made.
Staff outlined the district’s curriculum budgeting process, including separate tracking of annual expenses and larger curriculum adoptions, and said $2 million has been set aside for major future curriculum investments. Upcoming work includes K–12 math and elementary social studies reviews. The committee also discussed instructional technology and the cost of student iPads: approximately $389 for a device, plus case, screen protector, and management licensing, with the district estimating a net cost of about $74 per student per year after family fees and resale proceeds. Members discussed continued review of when devices go home and how they are used, but took no related action or purchasing vote. No procurement award or bid approval was identified.
