The Swartz Creek Community Schools Board of Education met October 7, 2026. The board approved the 2026–27 student handbooks by a 5–2 vote and amended Policy 4407 to require placing professional staff on paid, nondisciplinary administrative leave while an investigation is pending; the amendment passed 6–1. It also approved Executive Director of Human Resources John Mertz’s contract after removing the word “stipend” and the reference to a “highly effective” rating. The superintendent reported that upcoming 31aa funds will be divided between mental health and school safety, with application deadlines running from November through April, but no funding allocation was made. The board also approved revisions to the October 16 special-meeting minutes and moved subcommittee meetings to October 15.
