The City of Westminster Historic District Commission met on October 7, 2026, and approved three applications in the second round of the city’s Facade Improvement Program. The program received six applications, three of which were ready for review; staff said funding was available for all three, subject to final state approval. The 14 Liberty Street proposal covers a replacement metal awning and wood-for-wood repairs to trim and railings; the estimate was about $60,000, with a high bid of $63,400. The 18 West Main Street proposal included replacement doors designed to match the existing appearance, and the 10 West Main Street proposal covered an awning and sign, estimated at about $10,000. Motions to approve all three proposals as presented passed without opposition. Applicants were told not to begin work until the state’s final approval is received; staff expected that approval shortly afterward.
The commission also noted that a proposed freestanding sign at 18 West Main Street was removed from the application because downtown zoning does not allow freestanding signs. Other updates included planned historic-district street signage for the current fiscal year and discussion of a proposed federal Section 106 regulatory change; no related procurement decision or spending action was taken on those items.
