The Pawtucket City Council and committee meetings on October 8, 2026, addressed two property matters with procurement or infrastructure implications. The City Property Committee discussed an easement for Rhode Island Energy to install and maintain an electric utility pole supporting grant-funded EV charging stations at 100 Freight Street. Because the grant expires at year-end and installation cannot proceed until the easement is approved, members sought revisions to limit the easement to the equipment and conduit area and add city protections concerning relocation and termination. The committee postponed a recommendation pending those revisions and further review at its next meeting; no easement approval or contract award was recorded.

The Property Committee also considered renewal of the parking-lot lease at 43 Broad Street for Joshua’s LLC, doing business as News Cafe. Rather than a proposed five-year renewal, members supported preparing an extension through April 30, 2027, at the existing $100 monthly rent, with the tenant thereafter at will, to preserve flexibility amid downtown construction and potential parking needs for library patrons and post office employees. The motion to prepare the extension and return it to the committee for approval passed 2–0. No vendor selection or other procurement award was identified.
