The Pembroke Pines City Commission meeting on October 7, 2026, included several procurement- and infrastructure-related matters. The Commission approved two potable-water service agreements for residential properties in Southwest Ranches, with the applicants responsible for connection costs and the agreements retaining the city’s 25% surcharge. The city attorney reported that the city had filed claims against fire-truck and equipment vendors over alleged delayed deliveries and increased costs; outside counsel is handling the litigation on a contingency basis at no cost to the city. The Commission also heard that State Senator Barbara Sharief had secured $800,000 in state funding for phase one improvements at the Howard C. Forman Human Services Campus. The auditor’s procurement-controls review found that the city lacks a process to track cumulative vendor spending across departments against the $225,000 Commission-approval threshold, and recommended formal monitoring.

The Commission approved the proposed FY2027 audit plan without objection, replacing employee training and development with payroll and timekeeping controls and allowing the plan to increase from 1,270 to approximately 1,320 hours. Planned audits include cybersecurity, infrastructure maintenance, recruitment and retention, and project management. Separately, the Commission unanimously adopted a resolution urging legislation on data collected by third-party vendors, including automated license-plate-reader providers, and agreed to make the issue a legislative priority. No specific vendor awards or contract amounts were reported; consent agenda item 5 was withdrawn.
