At the Nacogdoches City Council meeting on October 6, 2026, the council received the Convention and Visitor Bureau’s annual report, marketing plan, and FY 2026–27 budget. The CVB reported that it is funded by 72.5% of the city’s hotel occupancy tax and proposed a budget of approximately $797,500, up from $700,000 in the prior year. The council approved the budget unanimously. The CVB said spending would primarily support advertising and visitor promotion, with staffing changes also anticipated. It flagged aging visitor-center air-conditioning units as a future expense; replacement costs will depend on a pending study, and the bureau may seek a midyear budget amendment. No HVAC contract or purchase was approved at this meeting.

The council also unanimously approved renewal of the professional-services agreement between the city and the CVB; staff said it was unchanged from the prior year. The council approved the consent agenda unanimously as well. The presentation highlighted tourism activity, marketing plans, and visitor services, but no vendor selection or separate procurement award was identified.
