The Town of Mount Pleasant’s August 31, 2026 committee meetings included several procurement and capital-project actions. The Bids and Purchases Committee approved a design contract with Kimley-Horn to update the 2023 Safety Action Plan, an approximately 18-month effort intended to refine roadway-safety priorities and support future grant applications. It also approved Camp Electric Company, Inc.’s $349,000 bid for turnkey LED field-lighting renovations at Joe Garrett Baseball Complex and Sloan Park, and approved two stormwater cured-in-place pipe-lining contracts with James White Construction LLC under the Town’s on-call agreement. The transcript garbles the dollar amounts for both pipe-lining awards. Separately, the Health, Recreation, and Events Committee unanimously approved using project savings for additional inclusive playground equipment and shade at Gary Santos Park; the Finance Committee recommended maintaining the FY2027 millage at 44.3 mills, with the sales-tax credit factor to be finalized after county data arrives; and the Finance Committee recommended accepting an $11,500 K-9 donation as a replacement for a retired unit.
Other decisions with potential fiscal or procurement implications included a 120-day moratorium on data-center development, alongside a request for Planning Commission review of definitions and zoning options, including possible special-exception requirements. The Water Supply and Resources Committee discussed pilot microgrids and battery storage at two water utility sites to improve resilience and manage energy costs, but no purchase or contract was approved. The Economic Development Committee recommended that the Town take no new action on the Faison Road property at this time rather than proceed with a new RFP. Flood-resilience grant funding for the Edwards Park project remained pending; staff said permitting would need to be finalized and the project would proceed through bids and purchases if funding is secured.
