The Somerville Tree Protection Board met on August 11, 2026. It approved the prior meeting minutes and voted to approve removal of the far-right pine at 204 Weber Road while denying removal of the other requested tree. At 1020 Boundary Street, the board approved the submitted plan for a previously reviewed development project. Discussion covered tree protection, grading and drainage, utility connections, underground stormwater detention, and recorded covenants requiring ongoing maintenance of stormwater systems. No contract awards, purchasing decisions, or budget allocations were identified.

For a project at the end of Old Trolley Road, the board discussed impacts to mature live oaks and requested stronger tree-protection boundaries, additional separation from trees where feasible, on-site arborist involvement during protection installation and grading, and attention to drainage and water quality. A motion concerning tree-protection locations passed, with the project expected to return as its design advances. At 111 Wearing Street, representatives requested removal of 14 trees for a church-campus building project. Members discussed whether some removals could be avoided and proposed mitigation, including replacing a cedar with a cedar of at least 6-inch DBH; the transcript does not clearly record a final vote on that application before adjournment.
