At the TownSummSC standing committee meeting on August 10, 2026, members approved several purchasing and funding actions. These included purchase orders for $82,285 to Lifecan Wellness Centers for annual fire-department OSHA physical clearances and $106,400 to Brer Emergency Vehicles for two Chevy Silverado 1500s, plus a $149,972 metal building for the streets department. The committee also approved surplusing and selling streets and police department vehicles, and authorized staff to apply for a FEMA BRIC grant for a backup generator valued at $481,600, with a stated federal share of $361,200 and a local match of $120,400. Applications were also approved for a South Carolina tourism grant for Hutchinson Square improvements (estimated project cost about $103,000) and a Municipal Association impact fund award of $98,167.30, with a $5,167 town share. Members approved spending up to $65,000 in Midtown TIF funds toward the remaining Maple Street project balance.

Other business included postponing the first readings of two land-use ordinances until after an August 24 future land-use workshop, and deferring a proposed list of DOT safety actions for further council discussion. The committee discussed employee health-insurance concerns and possible plan options but took no action on changing coverage. Staff reported that pricing review for a public-safety-site building was underway, with a guaranteed maximum price expected within two weeks and site mobilization anticipated September 14. The meeting also entered executive session to discuss proposed development-agreement negotiations and a possible sale of town-owned former park-and-ride property; no outcome was reported.
