At the October 6, 2026 regular meeting of Greenwood County Council, members approved several funding and property actions. Council approved the FY2027 accommodations-tax committee recommendations and an application to the South Carolina Opioid Recovery Fund, including $25,000 to update the community action plan, about $25,000 for naloxone supplies, and $17,000 toward a recreation-director position for January–June; United Way committed an additional $8,000. Council also approved a Duke Energy easement for a buried fiber cable on county-owned property and authorized the sale of approximately 0.144 acres at 1736 Main Street for $10,000. An extension of the county’s option-agreement arrangement with Vision Greenwood, covering industrial-development properties, was approved through March 2027.

For the county’s $21 million fire-master-plan component of the 2024 capital-project sales tax, staff reported that 12 firms responded to an RFQ for architectural and engineering services for Lower Lake Station 60. Dorm Design Studio of Evans, Georgia, was identified as the most qualified firm; council approved proceeding with an intent to award, followed by a seven-day protest period and contract negotiations. Council discussed setting aside $50,000 from fund balance for the data-center ad hoc committee’s expenses, with travel and other spending to receive council oversight; no vote was taken, and a resolution is expected at the next meeting. Other actions included dissolving the Rock Creek Special Tax District and approving zoning and related tax-district measures; no additional procurement awards were identified.
