The Williamson County Budget Committee meeting, held October 5, 2026, approved several budget transfers and spending actions. Transfers included reallocating funds within the Mayor’s Office to reflect staffing, moving $380 from the Clerk and Master’s printing and stationery budget to dues and memberships, and shifting highway project funds to the Arno–Peytesville intersection improvement after bids were received. The committee also approved surplus vehicles and other county property for disposal at auction. Among budget amendments, it approved $3,367,130 for replacement school buses (identified as end-of-life replacements), $100,000 in library donations for a children’s department renovation, and a $3,600 Animal Center donation for repairs and educational materials. It approved an interlocal agreement for a full-time fire instructor with Thompson Station, with an amendment removing county-funded line items so the town’s contribution covers the position, and approved a radio-tower lease for the Grassland area. The tower lease was budgeted at an initial $54,000 per year; officials contrasted it with a Motorola tower-site quote of nearly $1.2 million. The listed motions and amendments were approved, generally unanimously.
The committee approved authorization for up to $25.5 million in county district school bonds and up to $31.3 million in general-obligation public-improvement and school bonds to fund previously approved projects, including school, parks, and public-safety work. Officials estimated interest rates of about 4.5%–4.6% and said the county expected to go to market in November. They clarified that these authorizations were separate from previously approved financing, including an anticipated $95 million draw for the JJ project and $175 million for the courthouse. Members also discussed the possible Williamson Health sale, focusing on whether proposals would account for long-term financial effects; no sale decision was made, and commissioners requested actual financial calculations for future discussion.
