The Peoria County Zoning Board of Appeals continued its October 6, 2026 hearing on the proposed Four Creeks wind energy project. Residents Adam Zimmerman and Maya Johnson described concerns about the proposed turbines’ effects on their homes, land use, property values, wildlife, rural roads, and quality of life. Zimmerman said he declined a proposed electrical-line easement offer described as $45,000 plus recurring payments and a 2% escalator. Representative Travis Weaver testified that Illinois ratepayers would pay an estimated $590 million in clean-energy subsidies in the current fiscal year and $853 million the following year, and said the project was expected to create eight permanent jobs; these were statements made during testimony.

An appraiser presented an analysis estimating possible property-value reductions near the project, including claimed residential impacts of 20–32% and an agricultural-land impact of about 8%. The applicant’s counsel challenged portions of the appraiser’s report, but the hearing officer allowed the testimony and report material to be considered, with its weight left to the board. The excerpt records no vote, contract award, procurement decision, or final ruling on the project; the hearing remained underway.
