The Tompkins County Community Services Board meeting on September 14, 2026, included updates from local housing and human-services providers, including Ithaca Neighborhood Housing Services, Lakeview, the Learning Web, Catholic Charities, and Racker. Providers described rising housing needs, staffing shortages, difficulty maintaining supportive services, and concerns about changes or uncertainty in Medicaid, federal, and other funding. Discussion covered supportive and transitional housing, youth host homes, housing access and referral systems, closed Section 8 voucher lists, and the lack of higher levels of care for some residents. Ithaca Neighborhood Housing Services noted a senior housing project in Tompkins County was seeking funding, and Catholic Charities said it expects to open 18 additional units in late 2027 or early 2028; no award or purchasing decision was reported.

The substance-use subcommittee reported community interest in a possible recovery center and discussed substance-use services in the county jail, including a suggestion that the Board consider supporting another jail nurse because weekend coverage is limited. The Board agreed to invite jail-services representatives for a future presentation and to form a small group to review agencies’ annual-report information and consider follow-up discussions to inform the next local services plan. The July and September minutes were approved following proposed clarifications. No contracts, bids, vendor selections, or procurement actions were identified.
