The City of Summit Common Council met on October 6, 2026. The council approved Resolution 12763, renewing the city’s automated permitting system for zoning, UCC, and engineering; the community services director had reviewed alternative providers and recommended continuing with the current platform. The provider and renewal cost were not stated. The council also approved Resolution 12730, extending Summit Industrial Hardware Inc.’s walk-in hardware supply contract for two years under the existing terms, at a cost not to exceed $60,000 per year. Both resolutions passed. Separately, the council discussed the city’s commitment to Summit Housing Authority renovations: approximately $3 million is committed from the affordable housing trust fund, with a further approximately $5 million conditional on other funding not being secured. No new vendor award or contract amount for that work was approved at this meeting.
The council unanimously introduced several ordinances for public hearings, including changes to the Department of Community Services’ organization, adjustments to parking restrictions near Wilson School, and updates to rules for recreation facilities and programs. In other business, officials said the city is working to obtain outside analysis of development-related tax revenues, but no consultant was selected or spending authorized. A consent-agenda payment resolution was withdrawn because the amount received was incorrect. Other discussion covered affordable housing planning, infrastructure and pedestrian safety, dog-park locations, and a possible settlement related to Tatlock Field lights; no related procurement action was taken.
