The Milford High School Building Committee held a public community forum on October 6, 2026, to update residents on the proposed high school project. The project team described the 53-year-old building’s aging systems, accessibility issues, undersized classrooms and science labs, and limitations on career and technical education. The committee is studying a base repair, new-construction, and addition-renovation options, including possible renovation of the F-wing, which contains the pool and gym. No final cost estimates or contract awards were presented, and no votes were taken at the forum. The building committee expects to select an option in the coming weeks, submit a preferred schematic report to the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) for review, and bring the project to a town vote in fall 2027; the school is tentatively projected to open in 2030 or 2031.

The MSBA partnership was described as providing a 72.54% reimbursement rate for eligible costs, subject to program rules; the presenters cautioned that this does not mean the state will reimburse the same share of the entire project. A base repair may not qualify for reimbursement if it does not meet the educational plan. The pool and district offices were identified as non-reimbursable items, and the pool could require a separate funding approach or later project. The committee said it is comparing options and costs with attention to taxpayer impact and construction phasing; no specific budget or procurement action was approved.
