Franklin County Board of Commissioners General Session, October 6, 2026: The board approved several contracts, grant agreements, and purchasing actions. These included a $98,000 visual-identity consulting contract with Murphy Epson, Inc.; a competitively bid drainage-outlet improvement contract with Leighton Services, funded by OPWC (amount not stated); and a broadband and technology agreement increasing data capacity from 2 to 3 Gbps with no net new cost after a negotiated per-unit price decrease. The board also approved one-year extensions with 11 vendors for senior minor-home-repair services; funding agreements using CDBG funds for child-care business assistance, business training, community services, and emergency shelter and intimate-partner-violence services; and workforce-development and youth programs, including a $150,000 grant to Right Choice Mentoring and a $75,000 agreement with Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Other adopted spending actions included a $2,400 increase to an Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction grant (revised total $12,772,369), veteran assistance appropriations, and purchase-order resolutions totaling $3,311,431.97, $4,150, and $5,595.96. Several resolutions passed unanimously; Commissioner Boyce abstained on certain purchase, training, and youth-employment items.

The board did not adopt a proposed amended agreement for the Franklin Park Conservatory Joint Recreation District, voting 2–1 against it after questions about board composition and park fencing; the proposal included extending the district term, confirming 25 board seats, and reducing the City of Columbus’s annual contribution from $500,000 to $250,000. The session also included stormwater-awareness remarks and discussion of drainage and environmental responsibilities. County administration said parking-violation fees paid with county funds for some county vehicles were being reimbursed and that, going forward, employees would reimburse all such fees. No contract amount was stated for the Leighton Services project or several other agreements, and some funding amounts in the transcript were unclear.
