The City of Webster Groves Arts Commission met on October 6, 2026. The commission reviewed 42 submissions for public art on four city-owned utility boxes and planned to select artists at a meeting later that week, consult Public Works on feasibility, and then seek commission ratification. No artist awards were made at this meeting. Members also discussed making sculpture-garden plaques fully ADA-compliant; the designer said the lettering change would add only a small cost and remain within the existing budget. A bird sculpture repair was reported complete, while further sculpture repairs and conservation assessments remain unresolved. Parks staff are also assessing damaged apple sculptures, with possible replacement discussed but not decided. No dollar amounts or contract awards were reported, and the commission said its budget allocation for the year had not yet been addressed.

The commission passed a motion to move the public-art application deadline to March 30 to allow more time for the process. Members discussed possible future community mural projects and youth participation, but no project or spending was approved. A City of the Arts resolution was scheduled for consideration by the City Council that evening; its outcome was not reported. Follow-up items included obtaining an ADA-compliant plaque design, checking sculpture insurance and repair history, and coordinating with Parks on the sculptures.
