Brevard County Board of County Commissioners zoning meeting, October 1, 2026: The Board considered several land-use requests. It approved a rezoning for Cypress Mobile Home Park to allow a planned 33 additional manufactured-home sites, subject to later site-plan and other approvals; approved companion future-land-use and zoning changes for a 2.3-acre property intended to support expansion of a Sunbelt Rentals operation; and approved a conditional-use request for a private boat dock. One zoning item was continued to a November meeting, and another appeared to be continued to December 10. The Board voted to deny Defender Homes Airway Heights LLC’s request to change zoning for a 14.37-acre parcel, citing incompatibility with the surrounding area; residents and city representatives raised concerns about flooding, wetlands, traffic, and sewer capacity.

A Melbourne representative described planned utility work—$200,000 budgeted for design in fiscal year 2027 and $2 million in fiscal year 2029 for force-main replacement—but these were city plans, not spending actions taken by the County Board. A public commenter requested help finding a site for a church, and a commissioner offered to meet; no property acquisition or funding action followed. No procurement activity, contract awards, solicitations, or bid approvals were identified.
