🚨 Public Safety 🏗️ Construction & Infrastructure Grants & Funding Emergency Response

At its October 6, 2026 administrative meeting, the Klamath County Board of County Commissioners approved by consensus listing a Developmental Disability Services vehicle as surplus for the October 17 auction. The board supported moving the Sheriff’s Office proposed civil-fee schedule forward to the required public hearing process; no fee changes were adopted at this meeting. Commissioners discussed the costs of records processing and the proposal’s estimated-fee/deposit approach, and suggested reviewing fees annually. On ambulance service coverage, the board directed Commissioner Nichols to continue working with Emergency Management staff on RFPs for underserved areas, while noting that the county does not itself provide ambulance service and expressing concern about assuming ongoing subsidy obligations.

The board approved a $55,000 county contribution toward the Ironman event’s approximately $100,000 licensing fee, using restricted tourism funds. Discover Klamath reported that Travel Southern Oregon and Travel Oregon had committed $20,000 and $25,000, respectively, and identified roughly $30,000 in additional host-city costs; the board also asked staff to seek support from the City of Klamath Falls. The event is tentatively planned for August 13–14, 2027, subject to permits and contracting. Separately, commissioners approved paying Sprague River Water Association’s $1,659.31 emergency water-system repair bill from the general fund and agreed to inquire whether it could qualify for reimbursement. No procurement activity was identified in the tourism organization’s other quarterly updates.
