At the September 15, 2026 Guthrie City Council meeting, members unanimously accepted several state and federal grants totaling a little over $2.3 million, supporting city infrastructure and public safety. Awards included $465,307.70 from the Oklahoma Department of Aeronautics for the airport terminal, a $370,595 Assistance to Firefighters grant for breathing equipment (with a reported 10% city match), $135,755.63 for wildland-fire tanker units, $350,000 for a community paramedicine vehicle initiative that could help fund a new ambulance, $500,000 toward the Meridian Technology Center public safety training facility and fire tower, and $498,523 for victim services. The city manager noted that the grants substantially offset planned costs; the ambulance initiative may require an additional $60,000–$70,000 for equipment. Council also unanimously renewed the rodeo arena lease with Bobby Kane, accepted water, sewer, paving and right-of-way improvements for Guthrie Farms subdivision Phase 3, approved the FY 2026–27 firefighters’ collective bargaining agreement, and accepted the FY2025 audited financial statements. The audit received a clean opinion, with no material findings reported.
The transcript also includes a separate Guthrie Public Works Authority segment after the council meeting. In that segment, the authority unanimously approved a wastewater treatment plant closeout involving deductive change order No. 8 for $25,400 and final payment of $36,935.45 to Berkeley Insurance Company under a settlement agreement. No other major procurement action was identified in that segment.
