The City of Raymore Planning and Zoning Commission met on October 6, 2026. The main item was a staff presentation and discussion of demographic, housing, income, and employment trends to inform the forthcoming Unified Development Code (UDC) update. Staff said the City had received direction to begin soliciting assistance for the update through an RFQ; no consultant was selected, contract awarded, or spending amount specified. The discussion focused on whether future development standards should better accommodate seniors, first-time buyers, smaller households, and more varied housing types. Staff noted that the Commission, Council, and public are expected to participate in the code-update process. The Commission unanimously approved the September 15 minutes and appointed Commissioner Urquilla as secretary; no procurement-related motions or votes occurred.
Staff also reported ongoing public works activity: separate pavement-marking work involving Smart Traffic and Streetwise, continued work on Kurzweil, and a Walmart-related project that was reportedly out to bid. The City’s 2027 budget includes design for a signal project near Casey’s, with construction tentatively considered for the 2028 or 2029 capital improvement program. These were status updates, not new awards or approvals at this meeting. Staff scheduled upcoming planning items, including a Vision Source site plan and city-initiated park rezonings.
