The Haverford Township Board of Commissioners’ October 5, 2026 work session reviewed items for the October 13 regular meeting and heard departmental updates. Walker Consultants presented its parking study, finding that overall supply is generally adequate and recommending better parking wayfinding, clearer and updated curb signage and regulations, online residential permits, potential changes to enforcement hours, and shared use of existing private parking. It recommended considering an increase in hourly rates from $0.50 to $1 in Oakmont, Brookline, and Manoa, along with revisions to some zoning parking minimums. Commissioners discussed the recommendations, including effects on businesses and users; the presenter emphasized that the report is advisory and no recommendations were adopted at the work session.
The board previewed a proposed facilities electricity purchase agreement with Constellation through the Pennsylvania Municipal League’s Municipal Utility Alliance program, as well as a liquid-fuel/street-light electricity allocation resolution; no vote or spending approval occurred during this session. The police chief also discussed a grant sought for traffic-signal and pedestrian-safety upgrades, with the damaged signal already repaired. Separately, Delaware County Sheriff’s Office representatives reported acquiring 31 Axon body cameras with translation capability; this was a county update, not a Haverford Township purchase. The finance committee reported that preliminary budget materials were expected at the end of October, with final adoption scheduled for December.
