Hennepin County committee meetings, October 6, 2026: Committees approved or advanced several procurement and budget items. The Health Committee approved a $210,000 agreement with Samsung HME America/Neurologica for replacement radiology equipment, installation, training, and maintenance at NorthPoint. The Human Services and Public Health Committee approved a one-year extension of Centurion Detention Health Services’ correctional healthcare agreement through October 31, 2027, increasing the not-to-exceed amount by $13,687,? to $56,769,451. Members raised concerns about the increase, including higher resident acuity and a roughly $5 million increase in insurance costs, while emphasizing the need to maintain care. Separately, the Administration, Operations and Budget Committee directed the county administrator to explore more cost-effective models for correctional medical services. It also approved a janitorial-services agreement for the 625 Building, not to exceed $800,000; a five-year St. Anthony library lease extension with first-year rent and operating expenses of $115,430; and agreements for Richfield law-enforcement and terrorism-prevention equipment (a little over $12,000) and other routine items. A child-well-being committee resolution was advanced for further consideration.
Other approved items included a $250,000, three-year agreement with Bartlesmann Publishing Group for children’s read-along books; a University of Minnesota work order to measure and model carbon sequestration on county land for January 2027–March 2029; trucking services with Hagen Trucking and Niti Contracting; and right-of-way acquisitions for transportation projects. The county also approved an energy-broker agreement scope expansion with no change to its term or not-to-exceed amount. The Housing and Redevelopment Authority heard a request to extend the Naturally Occurring Affordable Housing Pool 2 term to December 31, 2042, with no change to its not-to-exceed amount; $3.4 million remains available to support further acquisitions, but the transcript ends before a vote is recorded. A separate HERC-related matter was progressed to the next full Board meeting amid discussion of Minneapolis’s proposed incinerator closure date and the county’s waste-management plans.
